Week 37 In the Year of our Lord, 2026, Longing

Absence is the best price indicator

or in Hindi,

घर की मुर्गी दाल बराबर

I have spent the last couple of weeks on the move, from Bengaluru, to Hyderabad, to Nagpur. It has been chaotic to say the least. It is also the first time I have missed a flight in my whole life. I guess to count my blessings I am lucky it happened early in the morning and on a busy enough route that I got a replacement. I was nevertheless still delayed and caused inconvenience to myself and others and did burn a modestly sized hole in my pocket.

My journey has made me realise how much I cherish Bengaluru and the many facilities I have here. The pleasant crowd in Bangalore, the techie and laid back vibes. The friend group I have become accustomed to. For all its flaws, I like Bengaluru much better than other metros I have had the great fortune of experiencing.

How I Missed My Flight

I caught a shuteye, as simple as that, though to be fair, I did wake up in the nick of time just before the flight, but the flight departed a nick early. Fortunately I was not alone in my predicament here, and there were four more people in the same mire so we were able to arrange seats on the next flight for us. Harrowing and learning experience all in all. 10/10 will not recommend again.

Why You Should Not Pick Radisson Blu in Banjara Hills

Radisson Blu in Banjara Hills is possibly the most ill placed Radisson Blu in forever. The location is what can only adequately described by the phrase: "the middle of nowhere". The incline makes sure you get enough cardio if you want to exit the hotel to the nearest main road, and no public transit is present nearby. Also if the road in front of the hotel is under construction, autos and cabs will often refuse to attend. Meaning, you can get mandatory morning exercise for your commute. Yippee!

Their only redeeming quality for the entire duration of my stay has been the marble cakes which have been consistently good, and the complimentary laundry, rest all, sucks ass.

A Couple of Lines of Longing

My stay in Nagpur, has been, to foreshadow an upcoming post, a disasterpiece, my Dad came to pick me up in our beat up two wheeler which I have been trying to persuade him to sell in forever. I get drenched along the way. I also have multiple arguments about how much I like Bengaluru better and rage book a flight for the first Saturday after Ganapati. A terrible show of patience from my side, and I guess this post (well, technically weeknote) is a bit of a rant. Fortunately for me, my temper has since eased and I have adopted a more easy view of life. Shit happens, it's when it doesn't happen that you need to worry. Giving in to rage is not a solution, it just creates bitterness everywhere and no actual solution.

I still long for the comforts of Bengaluru, and those of familiarity, even when it comes with struggle of taking multiple buses in peak traffic. Standing shoulder to shoulder and in severe need of deodorant outside on a sunny day, the occasional friend meetup here and there, the many visitors who I meet. I miss my desktop PC with all it's games, I miss my PS5 with all it's games. I miss my physical office space, mostly because of two monitors and unlimited soda. I miss the ability to be back at 3:00 in the morning no questions asked. I miss the IndieWebClub of which I have missed the past several, and the many more things I had grown accustomed to in Bengaluru.
